چکیده
The ISOLDE Collaboration CERN, CH-1211 Geneva 23, Switzerland (Received 19 March 1998; revised manuscript received 19 October 1998) The electric quadrupole interaction of 191Pt (I 3y2; T1y2 2.9 d) in an Fe single crystal was measured for magnetization M parallel to the crystallographic [100], [110], and [111] axes. For M k f111g and [110] the distribution of the electric field gradient (EFG) is relatively sharp. For M k f100g the EFG distribution is by a factor of 2.8(6) broader than for M k f111g. Additional data on Os, Re, Ir, and Au in Fe indicate that this behavior seems to be of general nature: In all cases the EFG distribution for M k f100g is considerably broader than for M k f110g and [111]. Dependence of the Electric Field Gradient of Ir in Fe on the Direction of Magnetization with respect to the Crystallographic Axes
The electric quadrupole interaction of Ir sI 1; T1y2 41.5 hd in a Fe single crystal was measured for magnetization parallel to the crystallographic [100], [110], and [111] axes. Contrary to all previous experiments, a strong dependence of the electric field gradient on the direction of the magnetization with respect to the crystallographic axes was observed for the first time. متن کاملExact Solution for Electrothermoelastic Behaviors of a Radially Polarized FGPM Rotating Disk
This article presents an exact solution for an axisymmetric functionally graded piezoelectric (FGP) rotating disk with constant thickness subjected to an electric field and thermal gradient. All mechanical, thermal and piezoelectric properties except for Poisson’s ratio are taken in the form of power functions in radial direction. After solving the heat transfer equation, first a symmetric dist...
متن کاملSpin-Transfer Torques Generated by the Anomalous Hall Effect and Anisotropic Magnetoresistance
Spin-orbit coupling in ferromagnets gives rise to the anomalous Hall effect and the anisotropic magnetoresistance, both of which can be used to create spin-transfer torques in a similar manner as the spin Hall effect. In this paper, we show how these effects can be used to reliably switch perpendicularly magnetized layers and to move domain walls. A drift-diffusion treatment of the anomalous Ha...
متن کاملObservation of spin Seebeck contribution to the transverse thermopower in Ni-Pt and MnBi-Au bulk nanocomposites
Transverse thermoelectric devices produce electric fields perpendicular to an incident heat flux. Classically, this process is driven by the Nernst effect in bulk solids, wherein a magnetic field generates a Lorentz force on thermally excited electrons. The spin Seebeck effect also produces magnetization-dependent transverse electric fields. It is traditionally observed in thin metallic films d...
متن کاملAngular and temperature dependence of current induced spin-orbit effective fields in Ta/CoFeB/MgO nanowires
Current induced spin-orbit effective magnetic fields in metal/ferromagnet/oxide trilayers provide a new way to manipulate the magnetization, which is an alternative to the conventional current induced spin transfer torque arising from noncollinear magnetization. Ta/CoFeB/MgO structures are expected to be useful for non-volatile memories and logic devices due to its perpendicular anisotropy and ...
